Overview Work Arrangement: ***After the initial training period, this is a hybrid role, working onsite in our Sioux Falls, SD office.***
The Vice President Embedded Finance Solution Architect is responsible for defining the overall architecture, ensuring seamless integration with third-party financial services, and optimizing API-driven transaction flows. This role is responsible for collaborating with engineering, product, and business teams to align technology solutions with business objectives, while maintaining compliance with financial regulations and security best practices. The ideal candidate is responsible for leading architectural decisions, selecting the right technologies, and driving innovation in the Embedded Finance vertical for payments, banking, lending, and digital wallets to build and enhance our platform's capabilities.
Responsibilities Essential Functions 1. Designs end-to-end financial solutions, ensuring they align with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
2. Defines API-first architecture for embedding financial services (payments, lending, banking, etc.) into platforms.
3. Develops reference architectures for integrating third-party financial services, payment processors, and banking platforms.
4. Guides the development of event-driven and microservices architectures for financial transactions.
5. Defines integration strategies for third-party APIs, including payment gateways, fraud detection, KYC/AML services, and partners.
6. Defines the tech stack and tooling for financial services integration, cloud infrastructure, and DevOps.
7. Aligns financial architecture with business goals, ensuring the Embedded Finance technology roadmap supports growth and scalability.
8. Designs secure authentication and authorization frameworks (OAuth 2.0, JWT, API key management).
9. Implements real-time and batch processing workflows for payments, settlements, and reconciliations.
10. Works closely with engineering teams to ensure solution feasibility and execution.
11. Partners with product managers to translate business requirements into scalable financial solutions.
Qualifications Education/Experience Requirements • An Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• 10+ years of experience in financial services.
• 5-8 years or more of experience in Solution architecture, cloud architecture, and/or enterprise architecture.
• Prior experience in payment processing, digital banking, lending-as-a-service (LaaS), or embedded finance platforms.
Preferred Qualifications • Self-Starter who can work independently in a self-managed team environment.
• Experience in designing multi-tenant architectures.
• Understanding of compliance frameworks, including PCI-DSS, SOC 2, GDPR, PSD2, Open Banking, NACHA (ACH payments), KYC, AML, and fraud detection best practices in financial services.
• TOGAF, CPP, CFP, AWS Certified Solution Architect.
