Salary range: $49,004-$74,193

This position typically pays the minimum of the salary range, pay will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Summary

Oversees warehouse operation including direct supervision of materials handling staff and drivers and implementation of activities concerned with receiving, storing, inventory control, issuing, and shipping materials, supplies, equipment, and parts stored in warehouse to support retail operations. Works under the direction of Director, Warehouse Operations & Logistics.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Warehouse typically operates seven days per week to support the Agency retail operation. May be required to work weekend (i.e. Saturday, Sunday), evening and holiday hours.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Warehouse Operations

Trains and advises employees on care and preservation of items received, stored and shipped; methods and use of equipment in handling, storing, maintaining and shipping stock; and other related tasks.

Ensures that materials are received, stored and shipped to avoid damage, breakage, loss, etc.

Confers with retail management staff to coordinate flow of materials that will support Goodwill store operations. Assigns staff accordingly to ensure that all activities are carried out in an efficient, professional and courteous manner. Establishes or adjusts work procedures and staff schedules to meet business needs.

Maintains inventory on clothing bales, new goods and other materials, as required.

Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations. Coordinates and/or conducts staff training to include, but not be limited to, training on safe operation of baler, tow motor and compactor, to comply with state, federal and OSHA training requirements.

Provides ongoing training and support to attended trailer attendants, warehouse personnel and truck drivers to ensure safe material handling practices are followed and to ensure a consistently safe and organized work environment.

Transportation

Develops routes and assigns drivers to ensure that goods are transported in an efficient and effective manner to meet business needs.

Ensures that staff are properly licensed and instructed on safe operation of vehicles and maintain appropriate logs documenting both driving miles and hours of service.

Coordinates and/or conducts driver training on an ongoing basis.

Ensures that vehicles are properly maintained to meet Agency, state and federal motor carrier regulations.

Other Duties

Employee will be included on Alarm Responder Roster for assigned store/location. Must respond upon notification from alarm monitoring company, in-person, to alarm calls that occur before/after typical hours of business operations. Employee must follow established procedures for responding to an alarm call and must have access to transportation to travel to/from store at such times. Employee must provide personal telephone and/or cell phone information in order to be available to receive alarm calls and must maintain ongoing phone service. Based on employment classification, employee will be paid in accordance with Agency Policy for time spent responding to alarm calls.

Performs other related essential duties as directed by supervision to include, but not be limited to, coordination of and assistance with snow/ice removal from sidewalks at main office and at other locations as necessary to ensure safe environments.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises up to ten (10) subordinate personnel assigned to warehouse operations and attended donation trailer.Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Duties will include participation in decisions to hire, fire and conduct disciplinary action.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three years of related experience and/or training which includes supervisory responsibilities.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Must be able to schedule own work and prioritize tasks independently. Must be able to work with minimal supervision in determining most efficient and cost-effective methods to conduct warehouse operations and transportation services.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Certification to operate tow motor. Valid CT Driver License and use of personal vehicle to respond to alarm calls.

Other Skills And Abilities

Ability to operate forklift and other material handling equipment.
